Dr Wong Su-Ni

Consultant Dermatologist

MBBS (Melbourne), MMed (Internal Med), MRCP (United Kingdom), FRCP (London), FAMS (Dermatology)

A Ministry of Health-accredited Dermatologist, Dr Wong Su-Ni has had over 20 years of medical experience. Sub-specialising in psoriasis, Dr Wong was the former Chief of the Psoriasis Unit at the National Skin Centre.

A strong advocate of maintaining high standards in the medical fraternity, Dr Wong dedicates herself to the research and treatment of psoriasis in Singapore. A key opinion leader, she has participated in several psoriasis advisory boards and chaired the development of psoriasis treatment guidelines at Dermatological Society of Singapore.

Dr Wong has published in various peer-reviewed medical journals such as the British Journal of Dermatology as well as contributed chapters to textbooks and handbooks on dermatological treatments of the Asian skin.

A well-recognised thought leader, Dr Wong also presents free papers and shares her insights at local and international conferences. Other than speaking at regional medical symposiums and conferences, she also makes time for public forums in her bid to bring greater awareness to diverse topics in dermatology, including phototherapy and biologics in psoriasis.

In addition, some of Dr Wong’s past and present professional appointments include:

  • Medical Adviser to Psoriasis Association of Singapore
  • Former Visiting Consultant to the Departments of Medicine at Alexandra Hospital and National University Hospital, as well as the National Skin Centre
  • Fellow of Chapter of Dermatology at the College of Physicians, Singapore
  • Member of American Academy of Laser Medicine and Surgery
  • Former Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre
  • Former Consultant Dermatologic Surgeon in the Laser and Dermatologic Surgery Unit, National Skin Centre
  • Former President of the Dermatological Society of Singapore
  • Former President and ex-officio Council Member, League of ASEAN Dermatological Societies
  • Chair of Organising Committee, 22nd Regional Conference of Dermatology, Singapore, 2016
  • Vice-Chair of Organising Committee, 2014 International Pigment Cell Conference

In medical practice, it is also about teaching patients to fish rather than to just give them a fish.

I encourage patients to take an active role in picking up clues to diagnosis and identifying trigger factors, and to look after the skin and body as a whole to improve their skin condition.

“Just as no two patients are alike, psoriasis treatments aren’t one-size-fits-all: it takes a dermatologist well informed in psoriasis medical science to customise your effective treatment plan.”
